How To Qualify for Newmarket’s Poker Tournament of Champions

We play about 100 games in a season. All games are Free to Play and everyone is welcome to play anytime.

Our Tournament of Champions (TOC)  is the only game all season long that you MUST qualify for in order to play.

You can qualify for the TOC and your shot at a complete Las Vegas vacation prize package in 1 of 3 ways:

(i) finish in our Pub Poker standings in a top 6 position for Points
(ii) finish in our Pub Poker standings in a top 6 position for Average
(iii) win a Monthly Qualifying Tournament

The Nitty-Gritty
The first 4 seats go to the monthly qualifiers.

That is, monthly Qualifier takes precedence – i.e. if a player wins a seat in the monthly, they do not earn a seat based on standings; If a monthly Qualifier wins twice in a season the 2nd seat won goes to the 2nd place finisher in that monthly qualifier game.  If a monthly qualifier cannot attend the TOC, the seat won goes to the 2nd place finisher in that monthly qualifier game (then onto 3rd place finisher if 2nd place can’t make it).

Note: To win a seat in a monthly qualifier, you must have played in at least 1 other game in the current month.

The remaining 12 seats are assigned to the top players: 6 from the Total Points Standings and 6 from the Top Average Standings.

Note: To win a seat with a Top Average score, you must have planned a minimum of 12 games by the end of a season (4 month period).

If there are vacancies for players who cannot attend, the seat is offered to alternates;  The alternates are the next best qualifiers based on the next position in the Total Points Standings first.  A subsequent qualifier, if required, is based on the next position in the Top Average Standings.  Selection of qualifiers then continues by alternating between Top Points and Top Average Standings until all seats are full.

If a player qualifying based on points or averages advises ahead of time that they cannot attend, their seat will be filled according to the strategy laid out above.  There is no waiting list.  If a player does not show for the tournament, their chips will be blinded out until 1 hour after the start of the tournament (e.g. 2 PM).  After the first hour, the absent player’s chips will be removed from the table.
